WINE GLASS 5€

Daily selection of wines on tap.

For starters...

EGGPLANT PARMIGIANA 6€

VEGETARIAN*: is a traditional baked dish made with layers of fried eggplant, seasoned with tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella DOP from Campania and parmesan cheese. This specialty of ours is also gluten-free.

'NCHIAMBARA 5€

VEGAN: traditional calabrian frittata (kinda omelette) made with rice flour, red Tropea onions, and sweet pepper sauce. It's gluten-free.

FRITTATA DI MACCHERONI ROMANA 6€

MEAT: since medioeval age in Italy, cooking leftover food by immersing it in beaten egg was a widespread practice to avoid waste. This is the origin of the famous Neapolitan "frittat' 'e maccarun'". Our frittata di pasta, on the other hand, combines that recipe with the Roman tradition of "gricia" (considered the mother of the more famous "amatriciana" and "carbonara"), a pasta sautéed in guanciale (a seasoned fatty pork similar to bacon) and then tossed in abundant pecorino cheese (sheep's milk made) and black pepper.

LEGUME SOUP 6€

VEGAN: every day, using seasonal produce, we'll create a warm, delicious, and nourishing legume-based soup for you. You can imagine having taken shelter in an old farmhouse or mountain inn, with a tough old lady taking care of you according to the recipes of peasant tradition. Finally, you'll raise your gaze, meet the not-so-awake look of the waiter, and wake up abruptly from the dream.

FAVA PUREE WITH CHICORY 5€

VEGAN*: Another typical pairing, this time from the Puglian tradition. The sweetness and creaminess of mashed fava beans, and the bold flavor of sautéed chicory. If you ask for it, it's gluten-free.

PUMPKIN CASSEROLE 5€

VEGAN / VEGETARIAN: potatoes and pumpkin, with a dusting of ginger and dried fruit, here's an autumnal version of our "sformato" that it's totally gluten-free.

Well, let's get down to business!

OVEN-BAKED SEA RICE 6€

VEGAN: taking a slight inspiration from the Bari tradition of "riso, patate e cozze" (mussels), we've chosen to use seaweed to impart a unique flavor to this rice and potato dish, that is completely gluten-free.

SICILIAN EGGPLANT TIMBALLO 6€

VEGAN / VEGETARIAN*: "timballo di pasta" is another traditional way our italian grandparents had of repurposing leftover food during rimes of scarcity or for preservation needs during jourrneys on foot. In this instance, we've drawn inspiration from the Sicilian recipe, baking whole wheat rigatoni in a flavorful tomato and eggplant sauce.

LASAGNA AL RAGÙ 8€

MEAT*: the classic "lasagna" recipe features layers of egg pasta, seasoned with Bolognese ragù (a tomato and ground beef sauce), hard-boiled eggs, and cheese. More commonly includes béchamel sauce, but we prefer to use delightful Campana buffalo mozzarella.

FRIED MEATBALLS 6€

MEAT: they are made by mixing ground beef with moistened bread, garlic, parsley, egg, then breaded and finally fried. They're tiny, but incredibly soulful and nostalgic, just like grandma's.

DAILY PANZANELLA 5€

VEGAN: "panzanella" is a refreshing dish form central Italy, made by soaking stale bread and mixing it with tomatoes, basil, onions (red Tropea onions, currently in our case), all dressed with olive oil and a few drops of vinegar that give it its characteristic flavor. On this foundation, fresh or grilled vegetables of the day are added.

SPOON CAPRESE DI GRANA 6€

VEGETARIAN*: "grana" is a hard and granulated cheese, made from cow's milk in northern Italy, and appreciated worldwide, sometimes known as "Parmigiano/Parmesan," especially in its Emilian version. For twenty years, our mom has been preparing this creamy Grana semifreddo, which is a true rarity. Recently, we've started serving it by the spoon, resembling a delightful Caprese-flavored gelato with tomatoes, basil, chopped walnuts, on a base of moistened stale bread, sun-dried tomato sauce, and honey.

CAPRESE DI BUFALA 6€

VEGETARIAN*: the "caprese" salad is a hallmark of Neapolitan cuisine. It's a dish featuring fresh tomatoes and Campana buffalo mozzarella, seasoned with fragrant basil, olive oil and a pinch of salt. It's refreshing, thirst-quenching, delightful and gluten-free.

IDILLIO CREPES 6€

VEGETARIAN: we can fill it with grilled eggplants and smoked cheese, with radicchio and taleggio cheese or with tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella. Anyway, our savory crepes version remains strictly gluten-free.

DAILY VEGETABLE 5€

VEGAN: every day, we select the freshest and most flavorful seasonal and prime greens or vegetables for our wholesome and nutritious preparations, all of which are, of course, gluten-free.

DAILY EXPRESS PASTA

VEGAN / VEGETARIAN / MEAT

Not always and not under every circumstance will it be possible to have Idillio's famous rigatoni alla gricia, nor our amazing cacio e pepe or homemade fettuccine and cordelle. However, we still want to make you happy. So, for these and other daily specials, we invite you to follow us on our page to stay updated, to inquire, and above all, to book in advance.

However, if you're from another country, you might want to know what 'pasta alla gricia' and 'pasta cacio e pepe' are. Here you go:

"Gricia" is considered the mother of the more famous "amatriciana" and "carbonara", consisting of pasta sautéed in guanciale (a seasoned fatty pork similar to bacon) and then tossed with abundant pecorino cheese (sheep's milk made) and black pepper.
If 'gricia' is the mother of 'amatriciana' and 'carbonara', then 'cacio e pepe' could be considered a grandmother. In fact, this rustic and delightful recipe of central Italy simply involves the use of 'cacio,' which is pecorino cheese, and pepper. However, this doesn't make it any less flavorful and creamy; in fact, it's quite the opposite! The absence of guanciale also makes it perfect for those following a vegetarian diet.

SANDWICH 7,50

UNAVAILABLE TODAY NOVEMBER 1ST AND ON SUNDAY FOR LUNCH

Marco and Mirella from @Appizzati, rightfully the best pizzeria in South Rome, they use a blend of high-quality multigrain flours and a generous mix of seeds in their dough, which they then let ferment for 72 hours at controlled temperature, just to create these pepitas for us, each weighing over a hundred grams, halfway between a sandwich and a pizza, which we fill with our specialties. In short, a truly flavorful combination... you decide if it's worth it!

1- EGGPLANT PARMIGIANA SANDWICH

VEGETARIAN*: "parmigiana" is a traditional baked dish made with layers of fried eggplant, seasoned with tomato sauce, buffalo mozzarella DOP from Campania and parmesan cheese. Try it in our sandwich!

2- FRITTATA SANDWICH

VEGETARIAN: "frittata" is a typical preparation of Italian popular cuisine, similar to French omelettes. It's made by beating eggs and cooking them in a pan until they take on a solid and slightly spongy texture. The onion frittata is iconic, also mentioned in a well-known Italian comedy, Fantozzi. In our case, we use red Tropea onions and place that frittata in this classical homemade sandwich with some salad on a bed of lightly smoked sun-dried tomato paté and honey.

3- BOTATO AND CHICORY SANDWICH

VEGAN: a delightful summer sandwich where we combine the sweetness of botatoes and roasted peppers with the bold herbal flavor of traditional Roman sautéed chicory, meaning in a pan with garlic and olive oil.

4- CAPRESE DI GRANA SANDWICH

VEGETARIAN*: "grana" is a hard and granulated cheese, made from cow's milk in northern Italy, and appreciated worldwide, sometimes known as "Parmigiano/Parmesan," especially in its Emilian version. For twenty years, our mom has been preparing this creamy Grana semifreddo, which is a true rarity. Recently, we've started using it to fill our delightful Caprese sandwich with tomatoes, basil, chopped walnuts, on a base of moistened stale bread, sun-dried tomato sauce, and honey.

5- ZUCCHINI AND PISTACHIO SANDWICH

VEGAN*: garnished with pistachio pesto, you'll taste grilled zucchini, fresh tomato, on the usual bed of sun-dried tomato sauce spread on the base of the bread.

6- FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH

MEAT: "fettina panata" in the metropolitan culinary Italian culture means a chicken breast slice, marinated in egg, garlic and parsley, then breaded and fried. We use it to fill this sandwich along with mayonnaise and a bit of salad.

7- EGGPLANT AND PESTO SANDWICH

VEGAN*: Genovese Pesto is a sauce crafted with fresh basil, pine nuts, garlic, olive oil. We use it in a vegan version (without parmisan cheese) to dress our sandwich together with grilled eggplant slices, fresh tomatoes, aromatic basil and a sun-dried tomato spread.

Oompa Loompa doom-pa-dee-dee, what do you get when you guzzle down sweets?

CLASSIC TIRAMISÙ 5€

VEGETARIAN: a traditional italian creamy dessert made with layers of ladyfinger biscuits, mascarpone cheese, coffee. For about twenty years, ours has been one of the finest in Rome.
